This course is a statewide requirement for anyone who wishes to renew their notary commission. The purpose of the class is to review basic notary practices, responsibilities, and any updates to Ohio notary laws.

Topics include:
• Notary jurisdiction
• Executing a jurat & acknowledgement
• Stamp requirements
• Certificate requirements
• Permissible fees
• Prohibited acts and more!

Want a more in depth look at these topics? Renewal applicants are welcome to attend the 3-hour new notary education at a discounted price of $75. No exam required.

PLEASE NOTE:
Notary classes are never held at the BCBA office. Class location is at the Butler County Educational Services Center in Hamilton, Ohio.

Background checks are offered through the Butler County Educational Service Center prior to our notary class starting. The cost is $30.00 with a check or money order made payable to B.C.E.S.C. and you must arrive 30 minutes prior to class so that you can get your background check completed. Unfortunately, due to construction being done, the background checks will not be available for our classes in June and July 2025. Background checks will resume in August 2025 and continue thereafter.

The new Ohio notary law does not permit any grace period once a commission has expired. It is the notary public's responsibility to complete all requirements prior to the commission's expiration date. Failure to do so will result in a lapsed commission and starting over as a new applicant.
